MARK WARD

Paperback 6" x 9" 65 pages  ISBN  978-1-913144-37-1  Published June 2022

This new collection from Mark Ward selects work from his two previous collections Thunder Alley and The Visitorís Book, adding a substantial selection of new poems. Predominantly set in his hometown of Blackburn, it chronicles and collates the overlooked, the ordinary and the remarkable into a rich, compelling sequence of narrative poems.

Mark Ward is a poet and writer from Blackburn, Lancashire. He has travelled extensively and has lived and worked in a number of countries including Namibia, New Zealand and Alaska. His poetry has appeared in numerous publications and has been broadcast on TV and radio. He holds a Masters from Lancaster University and currently lives and works in Blackburn.

Mark Wardís debut collection Thunder Alley was a semi-autobiographical account of the diversity and divisions within his hometown of Blackburn.  The Visitorís Book expands on this theme, exploring the relationship between people and their environment. It collates and chronicles the overlooked, the ordinary and the remarkable: the things that pass and those that endure, into a rich seam of narrative poems.

"Vivid, sharp, memorable observations of the places that have touched Ward's eye and heart; the tone is characteristic of the man; poems worth reading!"
